With so much emphasis on home-made foodies and home décor, it doesn’t surprise me in the least that they think this festive season is set to be the great big ‘home-made’ Chrsitmas. Lots of us are having a go at home-made chutney’s, jams, biscuits and making knitted tea cosies and home-sewn garments. I must admit I have been very influenced by all things vintage this year (hence the blog) which has a lot of home-made products. I have already made my own Christmas cards and plan to try some fudge, chocolate and mint creams. With an abundance of beautiful box’s…

It’s nearly that time of year again. The Good Food Show in Birmingham is the highlight in the food industries calender. There are 400 exhibitors selling anything and everything to do with food. The book has three mystery novels plus one short story in it. It was the title (obviously) that first attracted me to this book, and I must admit I was a little disappointed that it’s mysteries didn’t actually include any type of afternoon tea !! But I guess as the saying ‘you can’t judge a book by it’s cover’ is true in this case. However, all in all the mysteries are mild, relatively bloodless, and with sexual activity (if any) only implied, and never directly addressed. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Afternoon-Tea-Mysteries-One-ebook/dp/B0052YX006
For her to win at a country show Kirstie had master-classes from the experts. In episode one it takes her to the Devon Show where she bust into tears (of delight) when her scones and home-made damson jam came in second place, and her whole fruit cake, came in first. I’m sure most of us regular bakers ‘without’ the help of master-classes could have done just as well, and perhaps without the tears. Purr, purr ( I do rather like the show though). www.kirstieallsopp.co.uk
